Many everyday situations require us to make sensible decisions. How
good are you at assessing the overall situation and understanding what
really is needed?
Choose your answers from the choices given and then discuss your
answers in the class :
1. You want to go out for dinner. You choose to go to.
a. A five-star hotel that suddenly announces a buffet for Rs.99.
b. The restaurant that you have been to for years.
2. You want to become a serious cricket player.
a. You join a cricket class, practise every day and get your diet in order.
b. You buy a bat, shoes and outfit endorsed by a famous cricket player.
3. You need a particular piece of information.
a. You go by the information you find on a television show or popular
magazine.
b. You consult a dictionary, encyclopaedia, textbook.
4. You need a new pair of shoes. You choose
a. Your regular shoes, which are comfortable and durable but not the
latest.
b. A new expensive colourful sporty brand that is currently fashionable.
5. You have a constant runny nose.
a. You go to the doctor and undergo treatment over a period of time.
b. You buy a widely advertised product that claims to cure colds,
backaches and stomach aches, all in two doses.
6. You have put on a lot of weight over the last year by eating junk food, watching a
lot of television and not exercising. You want to get fit.
a. You decide to join a 'slimming clinic' which promises to help you lose
ten kilograms in one week.
b. You decide to eat more sensible, exercise every day, cut your TV
hours and try to lose weight over six months.
