The diseases that spread from one person to another are called
communicable disease. The large scale outbreak of a communicable
disease, when it affects a large number of people is called an epidemic.
In our country, epidemics related to different types of infectious diseases
(Malaria, Typhoid, Chikungunya, Cholera, Dengue etc.) have become an
annual feature. Every year, a large number of people get infected by these
diseases.
Here are a few tips which will help you to prevent the spread of infectious
diseases and also save yourself from getting inflected.
Safety Tips for Epidemics :
1. Wear clothes that will cover maximum area of your body
to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes.
2. Stop breeding of mosquitoes. Do not let water collect
anywhere in your house or neighbourhood.
3. Wash hands with a good soap after coming from outside
and, before and after eating anything.
4. Keep your house clean. Help maintain cleanliness in the
neighbourhood.
5. Always drink boiled or filtered water especially during
epidemics like cholera, gastroenteritis and typhoid.
6. Wear masks while going out into crowded places in case of
the spread of an air borne disease like swine flu etc.
Remember
Keep listening to radio and TV to find more ways to
protect yourself during a particular epidemic.
